The Federal Reserve was established in 1913 and is, therefore, a “creature of Congress.” The President of the United States nominates members of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve, subject to confirmation by the Senate. One of the many items mentioned in the last presidential campaign was the problem of outsourcing jobs overseas. President-elect Trump vowed to raise and impose tariffs on imported goods in an effort to bring jobs back to the United States.
